Women's City Championship

WGAMI has hosted an annual women's city championship golf tournament in the metropolitan Indianapolis area every year since 1921 except for 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.  This tournament is open to any amateur female golfer who has a USGA handicap, and is affiliated with a golf organization that is a member of WGAMI.

The tournament has a championship flight of 16 players. The balance of the field is flighted by USGA handicap index with a maximum of 8 players in each flight.

The format for the first day of the tournament is an 18-hole stroke-play qualification round.  All players will tee off at the same time.  Scores from the first day determine who is in the championship flight out of the players with the lowest 24 handicaps and determine the seeding within each flight.  At a luncheon after the qualification round, prizes are given for medalist (low gross), senior medalist (55 yrs+), low net overall, championship flight qualifiers, low putts, proximities and four-woman low net team.

The format for the second day is 2-player match play within each flight.  Each match is given a tee time beginning with the championship flight at 8:00am.  Winners advance to play on Wednesday. The winners of Wednesday matches advance to play on Thursday in the final match.
