Medalists
Since 1922 an award for medalist has been presented to the player or players who shoots the lowest gross score on the first day of the city championship (in 1970 it was a 2-day total). The lowest medalist score was 67 shot by Michele Nash, of Old Oakland, in 2011 at Crooked Stick. Dorothy Ellis Balch, of Meridian Hills, won the medalist award a record 10 times.

In 1992, the "Mom" Wilhoite Memorial Trophy was donated by the Wilhoite family to be used as a traveling medalist trophy. The trophy is presented to each year's medalist in memory of the late Martha McKinney Wilhoite (1913-1991), a long-time women's golf enthusiast "who's love for the game was only outmatched by her love for those who play it." Martha used to be called "mom" by many of the amateur golfers. Martha's daughter Ann Wilhoite Brilley is a 3-time State Women's champion. Ann was president of WGAMI in 1973 and 1974 at the same time that her Mom was president of the Indiana Women's Golf Association in 1974.
